JAMBERRY RICE BAG APPLICATION DIY TUTORIAL & APPLICATION

7:22 PM

Hello Lovelies!!!
Emily coming at ya today with a fun Jamberry DIY tutorial. I hope everyone is enjoying the party on Facebook, and hopefully those of you who requested free samples will be receiving them in the mail soon!

Did you know that you can use a heated rice bag, in combination with the traditional application method to apply your Jamberry nail wraps for best results. Why? Well, because HEAT activates the non-toxic adhesive that bonds and seals the wrap to your nail. If the entire wrap is not heated adequately and evenly, the wrap may buckle and/or lift and will not seal completely. Using the rice bag not only distributes heat evenly, it helps to smooth out any creases and puckers.

I will be giving away some Rice Bag Application Kits to some lucky ladies throughout the week, but if you don’t happen to win one it’s SUPER EASY to make one up yourself!!!

MATERIALS NEEDED:
-       About a quarter cup of rice
-       2 pieces of fabric (4x4 inches each)
-       Thread ( matching your fabric)
-       Needle
-       Sewing machine (OPTIONAL – If you don’t own a sewing machine you  can easily just hand sew your rice bag)

STEP 1:
Cut your fabric into two 4 x 4 inch squares

STEP 2:
Turn right sides together and sew a quarter inch seam around your bag leaving a small 1/2 inch opening for turning and filling your bag. I like to back stitch on both sides of the opening so my stitches do not loosen when turning / filling.

STEP 3:
Clip a small triangle off of each corner to eliminate bulk. Be careful not to cut to close to your seam … just a small snip will do!

STEP 4:
Turn your bag so that the right sides are facing out. Use the tip of a pair of scissors or a dull pencil to push each corner out completely.
STEP 5: Fill your bag with rice. Be careful not to overfill your bag. You want a bit of extra room so that the rice can move around and really form around your nail when you are using it to warm your wraps.

STEP 6: Hand sew the opening of your bag shut with small whip stitch.

…AND YOU ARE DONE! And ready to use!!

APPLICATION PROCESS:

STEP 1: Wash hands and clean nails. If necessary, remove all nail polish with nail polish remover.

STEP 2: Cut and file nails to desired length and shape.

STEP 3: Gently buff the top of the nail (optional), push back cuticle and thoroughly wipe down each nail with alcohol.

STEP 4: Match nail (finger or toe) to the nail wrap that best fits. BE SURE TO SIZE DOWN. The adhesive will not stick to skin or cuticles and a bit of nail showing on the side is not noticeable.

STEP 5: Cut and peel off the nail wrap, then warm with a Jamberry nail heater or blow-dryer for 10-15 seconds or until soft and flexible **You can also put the wrap on without warming it up, but keep in mind that the wrap will not stick well until it is heated, so continue with steps 6 & 7, but do so carefully.**

STEP 6: Press the wrap onto the nail. Apply firm pressure around the edged to adhere the wrap to the nail. Use a rubber cuticle pusher to seal the wrap around the cuticle. Remember, it will not adhere completely until it is heated.

STEP 7:  Trim the top with scissors or nail clippers.

STEP 8: When you have completed 5 fingernails on your hand, heat up your rice bag in the microwave for 15-20 seconds. (it should be hot, but not hot enough to burn) and apply/rub it directly on the nail. Use a rubber cuticle pusher to seal the wrap around the cuticle and work out any ripples. Give the nail one final rub with the warm rice bag.

STEP 9: Once your nails have COMPLETELY COOLED, file off the excess wrap in a DOWNWARD MOTION ONLY.

STEP 10: When your entire application is complete, heat up your rice bag again and rub over each wrap for a few seconds. Pay special attention to the tips, to ensure that they are completely sealed.

  1. I just googled this and your blog came up. I've been sewing ricepacks for awhile now, but just recently starting selling Jamberry so I'm excited that they both work together! Very helpful post. Thanks for sharing!
